Lawmakers looking to combat seafood fraud

Seafood that is sold to you as fresh or local unfortunately isn't always that.
A large part of the time it is either imported or frozen.
This is the reality of the food industry and the world we live in today.

However, there is hope in the state of South Carolina.
State and federal lawmakers are attempting to pass laws to help out this food predicament and make sure customers are actually getting the refreshing truth. A seafood labeling law that is moving would instill that what is advertised as fresh fish would need to be exactly that, or else punishable by law. The result in intentionally lying and breaking this law would be the small repercussion of a misdemeanor.

It's a small step, but at least it's a step in the right direction for our global food industry.
